Berwick is a town of differences as multiple stores and shops, exclusive specialist business's, national food groups and smaller restaurants, café’s and eating places all vie for business, catering for every fashion, taste and style. Weekly Street Markets and a monthly Farmers Market bring a wealth of local produce into the town whilst The Maltings Theatre and Cinema  provides a broad range of live theatre productions and the latest cinema entertainment 7 days a week

Within easy reach of our properties are the famous castles of Bamburgh, Lindisfarne, Alnwick, Dunstanburgh, Warkworth, Floors (Kelso), Jedburgh and Thirlestane

Coastal resorts at Spittal, Craster, Amble and Seahouses to the south and Eyemouth, St Abbs, Coldingham,
North Berwick
and Dunbar to the north provide hours of pleasure visiting quaint fishing towns and villages each with their own history and heritage

The Holy Island of Lindisfarne with its unique access across the causeway offers much to every visitor. With a Castle and Priory, magnificant walks and views, its place as the "Cradle of Christianity" and home of St Cuthbert, the island is a place many find hard to leave!

Towns and villages through North Northumberland and the Borders offer a bewildering choice. From the quiet rural villages of Wooler and Bamburgh to the larger towns of Alnwick, Kelso, Coldstream and Melrose all offer something unique and different.
A visit to the villages of Ford and Etal with the intriguing Lady Waterford Hall, the narrow gauge railway and Etal Castle provides visitors with an unrivalled taste of the rural English borders close to the the famous Scottish Flodden Battlefield site

Take in the charms of celebrated country houses at Paxton, Mellerstain and Manderston or Cragside, the first building in the UK to have hydro electric power.  At the Woodhorn Visitor Centre in the south of the region and the Scottish Mining Museum south of Edinburgh are reminders of the region's coal heritage - both these venues offer guided tours of original mines

Walkers and cyclists are catered for with miles of walks, paths and trails throughout the region.  The coast line is part of the Northumberland AONB, providing unspoilt and beautiful locations to visit and explore.  There are signed cycle routes and walking paths to sites of interest throughout the area. ‘Composers’ is on the Coastal Path and near well-established bird-watching sites. There are many inland and coastal nature reserves in the region including the Northumberland National Park, Keilder Water and Druridge Bay

We are also an ideal base for river fishing, hunting and shooting and within easy reach of seven golf courses. If 'getting away from it all' is your preference then the coastline with miles of unspoilt sandy beaches, small bays, rock pools and fascinating coves makes a perfect place for quiet solitude or an ideal location for all the family to enjoy the seaside experience

Complement your Berwick holiday with a visit to the Capital of Scotland. Edinburgh offers everything a capital city should. Easy to reach, filled with history, culture, shopping, entertainment and sightseeing, Edinburgh is a magnet for young and old alike and a day is hardly enough to take in the sights and sounds of this vibrant and imposing City

Guests travelling home southwards from 'Composers' can also enjoy the twin cities of Newcastle and Gateshead based on opposite banks of the famous River Tyne, located in the bustling and busy heart of the North East. The journey south also allows visitors the opportunity to step off the main A1 highway into the Roman world of Hadrian's Wall

Berwick upon Tweed has changed hands between England and Scotland 13 times as battles raged as to the rightful owners.  It’s a town filled with history and was the first in the UK to have its own Regimental Barracks– the Barracks museum is open to the public. The Elizabethan Town Walls are a must to walk. The changing backdrop of seasons and the estuary of the Tweed makes every walk a fascinating journey of discovery. The famous painter L S Lowry often visted Berwick, where he lovingly painted many local scenes, still unchanged despite the passage of time, and preserved through the Lowry Trail
