Many of our guests arrive by car – our geographical location 2 miles out of Berwick Upon Tweed
makes it slightly more difficult to arrive by train, coach or other public transport but not impossible.
“Is going car free right for us?” you may ask. Allow us to try and answer that question. Let’s start
with some of the reasons why you may not wish to come to us without access to your own car

We are 2 miles from the nearest town and our nearest shops
There are many great attractions in the area that can possibly best be reached by car
So, that's the downside.

On the upside, the list is a little longer.
There are trains from most UK railway stations to your destination station of Berwick Upon Tweed, offering a journey to Northumberland by train – along a coastal route noted for its famous views and for being the most ‘picturesque rail journey’ in the UK. We can arrange collection from the station to 'Composers'

There are numerous walks starting from 'Composers' and all you need are a decent pair of walking shoes or maybe slighter stouter boots for the coastal and beach paths

Arriving with your own bike gets you off to a great start or we can offer a hire service through our friends at the Ford and Etal Estate – pre-booking is always best so call us for further information. We have a dedicated storage shed for bikes, on site, so you never need to worry about their security when not in use

There are many activities that can be enjoyed by using public transport from Scremerston or Berwick and we have various guides and timetables to help you plan your route, journey and destination. If, on occasion, you do wish to venture somewhat further away, there are always taxis available to collect you from your 'Composer' property

Our on-site facilities, the tranquil 'Composers' atmosphere, the delightful individual patios attached to each property, the children's play area with climbing frame and swings, large scale chess and draughts set, croquet lawn and boule pitch, mean you really don't need to leave too often -everything you need is here, on site!

We can provide many things a baby or toddler may need, free of charge (cot, highchair, stair gate, baby alarm and babies own cutlery, plates and bowls). With the modern conveniences in each property, our on-site services and facilities, the Play Paddock with it's attractions for all the family, we guarantee hours of fun without moving more than a few metres from your holiday property. Our local supermarkets offer delivery services as does a local “fruit and veg” supplier - meaning you can relax all the day long

You are much more likely to really slow down, and truly relax, if you actually leave the car at home as you find other ways to unwind without 'turning the engine'. Your reduced environmental footprint matches our own commitment to be as careful of the environment as we can be without anyone feeling that not bringing the car is a compromise

If everything we have suggested is “a step too far” why not arrive by public transport and hire a car for the rare occasions it's needed whilst you are with us? We have connections to car hire companies who will be pleased to assist in your choice

Lastly, here's a challenge for the adventurous! So you DO need to bring the car but perhaps you can also bring bikes with you (or hire once here). Give us your car keys when you arrive and we will ‘store’ them for you until you leave!! Just another way to help you make a start towards a “green” commitment. See our useful links below to help you find further information

So, there it is – those are the choices - now it's down to you.
