Self Catering Guest House Berwick Composers At Woodland

Composers at WoodlandThe site of the 4 luxury 5 star self catering holiday cottages was once a part of the old Scremerston colliery yard, a thriving part of the local economy and life of the area. The colliery closed in the mid 1900’s and the village of Scremerston, 2 miles from Berwick Upon Tweed, reverted back to a small residential community, many moving away to seek employment further afield

InteriorFollowing re-routing of the A1, away from Scremerston, the once busy road around “Woodlands” reverted to a minor access road to the local Cocklawburn Beach and returned the area to a peaceful and tranquil location, surrounded mainly by woods and farm fields. The 100 year old outbuildings stood empty used, mainly, as store rooms.

Demolition In September 2004 we purchased "Woodlands", continued developing the estate and obtained planning permission to build a new office/reception and holiday accommodation. In November 2005, the outbuildings were removed to make way for the foundations and build of the holiday properties. Finished on schedule, we opened "Composers at Woodlands" on 15th April 2006.

New FoundationsWhy "Composers"? We wanted to create something other than bland holiday accommodation. With our background in the music and entertainment industry we soon found our past gave the key to the future.
